Expenses @ The Animal House

One of my many goals for the year 2011 is to keep better track of not only where our money goes but how long those items we purchase last to see not only where the money is going but to which items we truly need to cut back on.  I know this isn't exactly something most people blog about, but as I figure it, nobody is going to be paying attention to our budget page so why not  (currently just posting what is spent on the bunnies)

In February we changed the type of feed we got, we found that we could purchase a 50 Lb bag of Purina Rabbit chow complete For $14.85 where as 2 25 lb bags of Atwoods feed cost $15.98--$1.13 doesn't seem like that big of a difference but since we were going through about 50 LBs a month it would save us approximately $13.56 a year in feed a lone--which is almost an new bag, and even though the feed store is in noonday it is right next to our bread store so we never take a special trip out to get it we always wait till we go out for bread to pick up the feed to save on gas.  In addition Purina has a program where if you save the bar-codes you can get points towards free stuff including a free bag of food--find out more about it here

We do still utilize Atwood for their hay and many other products, I am a huge fan of Atwoods and it is just down the corner from us so we use it often.
